LIGHTHOUSE, 2025
Single-channel HD video, 14:13 min
(Filmed in Japan, 2018)
Lighthouse is a single-channel video work filmed in Inubōsaki, Japan, focusing on the sea and passing ships near a lighthouse. Through extended, steady shots, the work explores water as a temporal field—marked by repetition, suspension, and gradual change. Time unfolds slowly, allowing subtle movements to accumulate and perception to drift.
The visual language is closely intertwined with music by Japanese composers Toru Takemitsu and Joji Yuasa, performed by flutist Roy Amotz. Sound and image mirror one another through cyclical rhythms, pauses, and flowing transitions, creating a meditative, dreamlike atmosphere. The work draws the viewer into a state between wakefulness and reverie, where landscape, sound, and duration merge into a quiet experience of contemplation.
Music performed by: Roy Amotz
Toru Takemitsu – Air
Joji Yuasa – Mai-Bataraki II (for alto flute)
